Bullets struck a man and his vehicle as he drove in East Passyunk Monday night.

A 26-year-old man drove himself to Mercy LIFE, 1900 S. Broad St., suffering from two gunshot wounds — one to his lower back and another to his left arm at 11:34 p.m., Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. His 2005 Nissan was struck 15 times.

He was trying to park his car near Eighth and McKean streets when an unknown man began firing shots at him, Sgt. Gwen Bartlett of South Detectives said. The shooter and another man fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The man was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in stable condition and immediately underwent surgery.
