A man seeking directions ended up assaulted in Queen Village Saturday morning.

Responding to a 2:30 a.m. call, authorities learned the complainant had become a victim of violence in the proximity of a Rite Aid at 520 S. Second St., Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. He told them he had approached a resting white Nissan or Honda to ask its occupants for directions and then observed two men come out of the automobile to venture over to his ride.

Minus any provocation, they started to kick and punch his head and body, leading to a trip to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he required 10 staples for a significant head laceration. Their blows, Tolliver said, also caused a tooth to dislodge, with the aggressors, who took nothing, fleeing on foot along South Street. The victim said a female then drove their vehicle off in an unknown direction. He described the attackers as black, approximately 5-foot-9 and in their early 20s and the woman and another female in the car as black and in their early 20s.
