A man tried to rob a 7-Eleven patron in the parking lot of the Lower Moyamensing location for $2 Sunday.

The 21-year-old exited 7-Eleven, 2101 S. 10th St., and walked toward his automobile at 11:50 p.m. when an unknown man shoved him and said, “Look, I’m not trying to disrespect you. I just got out of jail, I have a gun and I don’t care. I just need some money. I need $2,” Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.

His target only had 12 cents, but offered it to the man anyway, Tolliver said.

“Obviously, you need this more than me,” the man said after he gritted his teeth, Tolliver said.

The victim offered to obtain some cash at the ATM inside the convenience store, so the man permitted him to do so, but upon entering the store, the victim alerted the clerk that he was being robbed, Tolliver said.

The perpetrator, described as Hispanic, in his late-30s to early-40s, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8 and wearing a dark-colored hoody and jeans, fled north on Broad and west on Snyder Avenue.
