Police are seeking a man who beat a drunken homeless man after he swore at him early Monday.

Officers arrived at Dunkin’ Donuts, 2654 S. 18th St., where they found a 55-year-old on the floor of the store intoxicated, unconscious and bleeding at 3 a.m. , Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.

The panhandler entered the doughnut shop and yelled an obscenity at a patron, Tolliver said. The offender punched him in the face and slammed his head on the floor before fleeing in an unknown direction, according to surveillance video.

The man was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is still unconscious but listed in stable condition, Tolliver said.

The suspect was described as white, age 45 to 50, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7, 140 pounds, wearing black clothing and carrying a black duffel bag.
