A Friday shooting left a 45-year-old woman dead and a 23-year-old man in critical condition.

A 2:33 p.m. radio call alerted authorities to an incident on the 1500 block of South Corlies Street, where they discovered Clarice Douglas, of the same block, suffering from gunshot wounds to the back and head, Officer Tanya Little of the Police Public Affairs Unit said. Following transportation to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Douglas died at 3:32 p.m.

Police learned more information on the matter when Hakeem Burley, 23, of 27th Street and Snyder Avenue, arrived at the facility via ambulance with four gunshot wounds to his left arm and side. Their investigation yielded eyewitness accounts of Burley and Shekinah Williams, 28, of the 2100 block of Sears Street, as having an argument and being the alleged gun wielders, Little said. The recovery of the former’s supposed weapon, a .45 caliber handgun, led to three firearm violations charges, including carrying a gun without a license, but more charges could follow.

2nd District Councilman Kenyatta Johnson and state Sen. Anthony Williams are offering a $5,000 reward through the Citizen’s Crime Commission of Delaware Valley for information leading to Williams’ arrest. Williams, described as a black male, 5-foot-3 and 125 pounds, is wanted for Douglas’ death, Little said.

Burley is being held on $250,000 bail, with a May 8 preliminary hearing, according to court records. He pled guilty to and served time on probation for firearm violations in 2009 for an ’07 incident in the 17th District.

Shekinah Williams pled guilty to two 17th District robberies in 2000 for which he served four to eight years each, according to court records.
