A 53-year-old cabbie was inside his vehicle waiting for a customer outside of SEPTA’s 69th Street Terminal at 11:10 p.m. Feb. 14 when Nahfeeh Williams, 18, and Dawald Williams, 25, both of the 2000 block of Mifflin Street, asked to go to Southwest Philly, according to the Police Public Affairs Unit. Upon reaching their destination, Nahfeeh Williams allegedly wrapped a belt around the driver’s neck, choking him while Dawald Williams grabbed his wallet, containing ID, debit cards and $100. The pair, who police believe are cousins, supposedly forced their victim in the cab’s trunk, beat him until he gave them his pin numbers and locked him inside.

Three days later police retrieved SEPTA surveillance video of the suspects getting into the taxi, according to the Police Public Affairs Unit. Authorities released the video to the public Feb. 19, and received a tip the same day that the pair were at an Upper Darby apartment where police arrested both men.

They were charged with attempted murder, robbery, kidnapping, conspiracy, false imprisonment and related offenses, according to court records. Neither has posted his respective $1 million bail as of press time.
