A technology-craving thief made off with an iPad Friday night in South of South.

A female complainant reported at 7:21 p.m. that an unknown male offender approached her while she waited for a bus at 15th Street and Washington Avenue, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The stranger stated “Whatever you’re texting must be important,” drawing a laugh from her as she continued to look at her phone.

He then asked “You see this right here?” as he reached into his waist area. Having observed that she also had an iPad, the mischievous figure told her he would shoot her if she did not give him the gadget, Tolliver said.

She complied and parted with the computer, with the thief fleeing northbound on 15th Street then Carpenter Street. She described him as black, 6 foot to 6-foot-3, 160 pounds; wearing a dark coat, a similar hoodie and knit hat with a brim; having a light complexion and brown eyes and being clean-shaven.
