A man that indicated he was a City employee instead robbed a Packer Park couple of cash last week.

The perpetrator knocked on the door of a home belonging to an 80-year-old woman and her 87-year-old husband on the 3100 block of Uber Street at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 11, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. He identified himself as a Philadelphia Water Department worker and asked for access to their basement to inspect since there was a sewage break up the street. The couple and the man headed to the cellar where the imposter spoke on a handheld radio. He exited the home after an undetermined amount of time.

The woman, who did not see the other suspect, realized $2,000 was missing from her home that night, Tolliver said.

The thief was described as white, in his late 30s to early 40s, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9, stocky and wearing a green vest, yellow hardhat and knaki pants.
