An evening usually reserved for revelry turned regrettable Christmas Day. Authorities rushed to 2511 S. Percy St. around 8 p.m. to deal with a blaze that Captain Clifford Gilliam said resulted from non-permanent electrical wiring. The personnel required 32 minutes to control the flames, which also damaged 2513 and 2515 S. Percy St.

Gilliam added that the incident led his department to enlist the American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania to assist the displaced individuals, the number of which he could not confirm.
