A Seventh-and-Porter-streets man charged with raping a little girl has pled guilty.

Anthony Chestnut, 36, of the 2500 block of South Sheridan Street, will be sentenced June 12 for rape, forcible compulsion and endangering the welfare of a child, which he pled guilty to March 13.

Chestnut sexually assaulted a then-5-year-old girl on the 900 block of Winton Street July 8, 2011. Authorities arrested Chestnut Nov. 14, ’11 after tips led them behind Devon Self Storage, 12 E. Oregon Ave., where it seems he was residing inside a 5-by-30-foot metal tube, according to the U.S. Marshal Service.

Chestnut did not post his $250,000 bail that was set the day after his arrest and therefore, has remained in county jail, according to court records. He is currently in the midst of a three-year probation sentence that stemmed from a possession of an instrument of crime and simple assault charges that he pled guilty to Jan. 29, ’10.
