A boy shot a girl in the face with a BB gun after a brief argument outside of a Newbold corner store Friday afternoon.

While standing outside the market at 16th and Dickinson streets at 1:45 p.m., an 11-year-old girl and a young boy had a verbal dispute over an unknown topic when the boy whipped out a BB gun and shot her once in the face and again in the stomach before fleeing south on 16th, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.

The girl had a small welt on her face, Tolliver said.

The boy was described as black with a dark complexion, age 11, 5-foot-1, thin and wearing a white T-shirt with blue writing on it.
