Ikea, the Swedish-based home furniture retailer, partnered with Ecotality, a company that builds charging stations for vehicles that are fueled by electricity. With this partnership, Ecotality plans to build eight new stations at Ikea stores nationwide, including one at 2206 S. Columbus Blvd.

This is Ikea’s latest step towards conserving resources and maintaining sustainable resources, and with this partnership, boost the number of Ecotality-maintained electronic vehicle charging stations to 55.

“We are fortunate to be able to expand this relationship with Ecotality, bringing EV charging stations to more Ikea locations across the U.S. since Ikea stores are typically visible and accessible from key points within a local metropolitan area,” Mike Ward, Ikea’s U.S. president, said. “Increasing access to EV charging stations advances our goal of helping coworkers and customers — as well as members of the communities in which we operate — live more sustainable lives.”
