Of the five area high school football teams, only one — the Bok Wildcats — stands alone as a champion. Saturday, the squad from Eighth and Mifflin streets successfully defended its Public League Class AA title with a 32-8 victory over Imhotep Charter. Quarterback Andre Frazier guided the offensive attack with 100 yards passing, including touchdown throws to Jihad Ward and Gary Jackson. Frazier added a one-yard scoring run.

Bok improved its record to 9-0, which includes two wins over Imhotep. The local squad won the regular-season meeting, 30-0. The Wildcats have a well-earned bye week before next week’s District 12 Class AA championship game. They await the winner of Saturday’s Catholic League AA tilt between Bishop McDevitt and West Catholic.

It was one and done for the Southern Rams, who were shutout 42-0 in Friday’s Class AAAA Public League quarterfinal against Washington. The lopsided defeat halted a four-game win streak for the boys from Broad Street and Snyder Avenue. Although it doesn’t count in the standings, the Rams return to the field this afternoon for a non-league contest against the 5-4 Furness Falcons. Kickoff is 2:30 at 10th and Bigler streets.

The Falcons are coming off a 27-0 non-league win over Communications Tech in which running back Sharif Smith had a season-high 256-yard, three-touchdown performance. He is just eight rushing yards shy of 1,000.

The Neumann-Goretti Saints missed its shot at the postseason as a result of Saturday’s 13-7 loss to Lansdale Catholic. The boys from 10th and Moore streets finished 0-4 in the Catholic League AAA standings and only the top four schools in the five-team division made the cut. Neumann-Goretti will return to action Thanksgiving morning against Southern.

In girls’ soccer news, five members of the Neumann-Goretti Saints earned All-Catholic Blue Division recognition. Junior Adriana Sciascia and sophomore Jennie Filippello each received a First Team nod while freshman Karla Masciotro was named to the Second Team. Seniors Tonia Russo and Bianca Giorgio closed out their respective high school careers with Third Team honors.
