A Sunday morning display of vehicular aggression yielded two arrests in Packer Park.

Traveling southbound on 20th Street in a 2010 Toyota Corolla at 5:30 a.m., the complainant and his driving companion eased up upon approaching a stop sign on Hartranft Street when another vehicle rear-ended them, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Thinking the impact was minimal, they left the ride to check for damage.

Upon their departure, they observed the offending automobile, a 1999 Nissan Altima, reversing to attempt to drive around their vehicle, with the speeding mode of transportation striking the Toyota’s open passenger door.

They claim the Nissan struck the complainant in the leg when its operator backed up and again tried to exit the scene. Rising from his fall, he and his peer followed the other vehicle to the area of 20th and Johnston streets, with the Nissan’s motorist allegedly attempting to make a U-turn in the middle of the street, Tolliver said.

They blocked the path and the complainant left the Toyota, with three males who had exited from the Nissan reportedly assaulting him. Officers in the vicinity observed the scuffle and arrested two of the three supposed aggressors, with the third fleeing the area. Authorities charged 25-year-old Brian Debello of Gibbstown, N.J., with assault, possession of an instrument of crime, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person. He had not posted his $100,000 bail as of press time and awaits a Nov. 26 preliminary hearing. They slapped similar charges, minus the possession of an instrument of crime, on 24-year-old Rosemont resident Nicholas Wilson, who posted his $20,000 bail and awaits a Dec. 16 trial.
