A group of teens surrounded two of their peers, taking one of their iPhones before fleeing Saturday afternoon.

At 4:30 p.m., an 11-year-old boy and his 13-year-old male friend left Foot Locker, 2308 Oregon Ave., but when they headed westbound on the 2000 block of Oregon Avenue, a group of nine teenagers circled the pair, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.

A 15-year-old boy asked what kind phone the younger one had and tried to retrieve it from his pocket, Tolliver said. The boy blocked him with his hand, which the thief pushed aside, taking his iPhone 4 with a gray case and fleeing on his bike westbound on Oregon. The remaining children made sure he didn’t follow and headed eastbound on Oregon.

The 15-year-old was described as black with a dark complexion; having short hair and a tattoo of the letter “A” on his right elbow and a “T” on his left elbow; and wearing a white shirt with gray lettering on it, red shorts, red socks and yellow and green Kevin Durant sneakers
