A man discovered five unknown men, who beat him with guns, their feet and an electric saw early Saturday.

At 12:46 a.m. on the 2400 block of Carpenter Street, the 20-year-old walked into the dining room at a relative’s home when a quintet of men busted through the front door, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. Two men, each armed with a silver or black handgun, pistol-whipped him while the others trampled him and struck him with an electric saw on his left side.

When his 43-year-old male relative entered the room, one of the men hit him on the head with an unknown object, causing a sever laceration that needed 11 stitches, Tolliver said. It was not clear what injuries, if any, the younger man received.

A detailed description of the offenders, who fled without taking anything, was not available at press time.
