A man leaving a birthday party at a West Passyunk bar was shot on his way home Saturday.

The 34-year-old left the festivity that was held at SK Restaurant & Bar, 2400 S. 24th St. at 2 a.m. with his wife and a few friends, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. En route to his home, he was struck by a bullet that entered through his abdomen and exited near his buttocks on the 2400 block of Ritner Street.

A medic transported him to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Tolliver said.

Police recovered ballistics and physical evidence from the scene, but did not provide a description of the shooter.
