Bike bandits

Police are searching for two men responsible for swiping three bikes from a Bella Vista backyard last week.

The first suspect cased the 700 block of South Schell Street for about 30 minutes at 4:10 a.m. Aug. 12, police said. He left and returned a few minutes later to unlock the Pemberton-Street side gate of a home on the block, removing a Schwinn bicycle and riding off. He returned about an hour later with another man. They returned to the same yard and took two more bikes.

They were described as white, age 20 to 30 and thin. The first offender was described further as 6 foot to 6-foot-2 and wearing a white T-shirt with a design on the front, light-colored shorts, dark-colored sneakers and a light-colored baseball cap. The second man was described further as 5-foot-8 to 6 foot and wearing a light-colored T-shirt with a design on the front, dark-colored shorts, light-colored sneakers, a light-colored baseball cap and a backpack.
