An 88-year-old family-owned bakery in Passyunk Square was burglarized after business hours last week and entry is believed to have been gained through an adjoining property that is under construction. Termini Bros. was locked up for the night at 9:20 p.m. Aug. 19, but the following morning its owners discovered their bakery at 1523 S. Eighth St. had been broken into, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.

The property next door, which is connected to Termini Bros. via the basement, is undergoing renovations, Tolliver said. Surveillance video showed an unidentified man, about age 40 and wearing a black shirt, black jean shorts and white sneakers with black stripes, entering via the neighboring property.

In the basement, a large amount of copper piping was missing along with $8 from smashed register, Tolliver said.
