Automobile protection offered

The Citizens Crime Commission in conjunction with the Auto Theft Prevention Authority is offering a discounted auto-theft system through the help of a government grant to help prevent cars — more often older models — from being stolen.

These systems will not only help locate the stolen vehicles, but lead authorities to the garages and chop shops that sell the car parts to close down these businesses, Montecalvo said.

A LoJack car security system typically goes for $740, but will be sold to the public for $199.
