Alleged fugitive captured

The U.S. Marshal Service has nabbed a Grays Ferry man that was wanted for murder.

The authorities received a tip from the public that led them to Point Breeze at 8 a.m. March 21, U.S. Marshal Supervisor James Burke said. Inside a home on the 2300 block of Fernon Street, police arrested Robert Holmes, 28, of the 2300 block of South Bailey Terrace.

The Grays Ferry man allegedly killed James Abbott, 41, of Southwest Philly, with a single bullet to the back on the 3300 block of Reed Street Oct. 8, 2011.

Holmes was charged with murder, possession of an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person and firearm violations.
