A man was attacked as he walked to his car in Packer Park early Saturday.

A 29-year-old man was walking to his auto with his 41-year-old brother-in-law after leaving a bar at 2:30 a.m. on the 3000 block of South 16th Street, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. As they exited the tunnel on that block, a man tackled the younger man, biting the left side of chest and his lip and fleeing in an unknown direction.

A private vehicle transported the man to Methodist Hospital where he received numerous stitches to close a gash to his lip, Tolliver said.

The motive is not believed to be a robbery.

The attacker was described as white, age 25 to 30, 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, having dark-colored spiked hair and wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans.
