Philadelphia Police Department, Pennsylvania Auto Theft Prevention Authority and AAA Mid-Atlantic will provide free Vehicle Identification Number etching for car owners Saturday in Girard Estate.
This etching service will essentially provide an almost invisible number on each car window. This creates a deterrent for thieves.
According to the police-issued flyer, “You barely see it, but thieves notice it.”
The event will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Quartermaster Plaza in BJ’s parking lot, 2300 Oregon Ave.
Car owners should bring current vehicle registration, proof of auto insurance and a valid driver’s license.
