A stitch in crime

When two West Passyunk roommates couldn’t reconcile their differences, one threatened the other and slashed her face multiple times.

Montina Love, 52, and her 57-year-old female roommie allegedly were arguing in the front, upstairs bedroom in their residence on the 1800 block of Hoffman Street at 10:34 p.m. Saturday, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. When the dispute became physical, unidentified individuals separated the two. At that time, Love is believed to have told her roommate, “When I come back, I’m gonna kick your ….”

She allegedly retreated to her room and returned with an unknown sharp object and cut the woman’s face multiple times before the individuals broke up the pair again, Tolliver said.

A medic unit transported the injured woman in stable condition to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she received stitches to close several lacerations to her forehead and left temple and to treat a swollen left eye, Tolliver said.

Love was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, possession of an instrument and recklessly endangering another person.
