A man swiped $20 from a Lower Moyamensing corner store.

The offender browsed inside Ho Choi Grocery, 2300 S. Ninth St., at 8:38 p.m. June 19, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.

He tried to reach for some merchandise behind the counter, which the 47-year-old female storeowner was standing behind, Tolliver said. When the worker denied him and asked what he wanted, he pulled a gray handgun from his waistband and pointed it toward the register. The woman stepped back as the gunman grabbed a $20 bill that was on top of the credit card machine and shoved it in his left pants pocket. The perpetrator fled from the store, heading southbound on Ninth Street.

The robber was described as Latino or Asian with a light complexion, in his 20s or 30s, thin and wearing a gray and white plaid button-down shirt, dark-colored pants, a pink belt white sneakers, gray and white Air Jordan baseball cap and white-framed sunglasses.
