A woman was mugged prior to picking up her children from their Lower Moyamensing day care last week.
The 23-year-old parked on the 2600 block of Broad Street when a man, who was sitting on the steps of My Space Preschool & Nursery, 2603 S. Broad St., asked where Broad and Lombard streets was, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The woman started to explain, but he cut her off by pointing a silver handgun at her and demanding her purse. She handed him her bag, from which he retrieved credit and social security cards before throwing it back to her and fleeing south on Broad.
The man was described as black, in this late-20s, 5-foot-10, thin; having a beard; wearing a white T-shirt and carrying a black book bag.
