A man was robbed in Bella Vista while counting his money Friday.

After withdrawing money from an ATM at Sweat Fitness, 700 E. Passyunk Ave., a 39-year-old man counted the funds as he walked on the 600 block East Passyunk Avenue at 2:50 p.m., Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. He heard a bike stop in front of him and looked up to find an armed man jumping off of his boy’s green mountain bike. The armed man pointed a gun at the victim’s face and said, “Give me your money.”

Upon handing over the cash, the thief said, “Give me the rest of it,” Tolliver said. The man passed him his wallet, but the man threw it back to him after discovering there was no cash inside.

The offender ordered the victim to walk in the opposite direction, Tolliver said. He obliged at first but then turned and chased the robber, but lost sight of him at Fifth Street and Washington Avenue.

The robber was described as black with a medium complexion, age 25, 5-foot-10, 150 pounds, skinny; having short, curly hair; and wearing a white T-shirt, green windbreaker and dark-colored pants.
