A New Jersey man, accused of attacking a police officer responding to a Point Breeze home during an argument, pled guilty.

Kenneth Bryant, 38, of East Orange, N.J., will spend nine to 23 months in jail plus three years on probation and anger management counseling after pleading guilty July 9 to aggravated assault and possession of an instrument of crime, according to court records.

Bryant lashed out on a female officer who responded to the 1200 block of South Bonsall Street at 9:57 p.m. April 29, according to police.

Police were called to the Point Breeze home for a person screaming to find Bryant and a 34-year-old woman involved in a verbal dispute. Police tried to end the argument, however, Bryant, who police asked to leave, swung a chair at an officer and hit the left side of her face with it. She was knocked unconscious and taken to HUP for treatment and released that night.
