Forced entry

As a man tended to shrubbery near his home, he was mugged and forced into his residence, which then was burglarized.

A 55-year-old was trimming plants at the rear of his home on the 900 block of South Sheridan Street at 10:18 a.m. July 18 when an unknown man pointed a gun at him and said, “Give me your money,” Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The man replied that all he had was his cell, which the gunman took and asked where the man lived. The offender forced him inside the dwelling and asked for cash. The resident handed him $500 from an upstairs bedroom and the robber demanded he remain in the hallway while he escaped out the back door in an unknown direction.

The suspect was described as black with a medium complexion, age 20 to 24, 130 pounds, thin; having hazel eyes, chin hair; and wearing a black T-shirt and black jeans.
