Police have released surveillance video in hopes of apprehending the duo that robbed a woman outside of a Whitman doughnut shop.

The 22-year-old female cashed a check at a Fifth Street and Oregon Avenue store 6:30 p.m. July 6 when one of the suspects approached her and inquired where the nearest Baptist church was located and which bus he should take to get there, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. When she said she didn’t know, he asked what street he was on. She replied and walked into Dunkin’ Donuts, 330 Oregon Ave., to buy a soda. The offender followed her inside and then out.

""He and another man engaged her in a conversation and led the victim to a secluded area to rob her, according to a Police Public Affairs Unit video.

The first suspect placed a gun to her back and said, “Give me the money,” as a second man grabbed $100 from her back pocket, Tolliver said. Both fled west on Oregon.

The gunman was described as black with a light complexion, in his 50s, 6-foot-1, 150 pounds, bald and wearing a blue baseball cap, blue jean jacket, white T-shirt and brown boots. His accomplice was described as black with a light complexion, age 40, 5-foot-3, 180 pounds, close-cropped hair, and wearing a tan shirt, blue jeans and black sneakers.
