A man wearing a wig and fake beard robbed a Whitman bank and one of its customers last week.

The offender walked into Wells Fargo, 2710 S. Third St., and snatched $4,000 from a 45-year-old patron at 12:40 p.m. June 28, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. When he tried to retrieve his cash, the unknown male pointed a small, semi-automatic pistol at his neck and approached a 22-year-old teller, pointed a gun at her and said, “Give me all the money. No dye packs.”

The man fled the establishment with an undetermined amount of cash, headed north across Oregon Avenue to an alley on the 2600 block of South Third Street, entered a white or cream-colored auto at Third and Shunk streets and traveled west on Shunk, Tolliver said.

The man was described as white, age 25 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-6, heavyset and wearing a gray T-shirt, white painter-style pants, white socks, dark-colored sandals, a Phillies cap and a full-beard-and-wig disguise.
