With only two contested South Philly state representative races, a pair of new faces is headed to the General Election.

In the 182nd District, covering portions of Bella Vista, Grays Ferry, Hawthorne, Passyunk Square and South of South, Brian K. Sims, with 51.6 percent of the vote, defeated incumbent Babette Josephs, who had held the position since 1985, according to the Pennsylvania Department of State election results.

In the 186th District, vacant since 2nd District Councilman Kenyatta Johnson stepped down to join City Council, Jordan Harris, of 31st and Reed streets, garnered 75.7 percent, according to state results. The coverage area includes parts of Grays Ferry, Hawthorne, Newbold, Passyunk Square, Point Breeze, South of South, West Passyunk and Southwest Philly.

Sims and Harris will move on to the General Election Nov. 6 unopposed.

To fill the 186th’s vacancy until the next term begins in January, Democrat Harold James and Republican Barbara Hankinson faced off in a special election, with James winning 93.82 percent of the votes, according to the Philadelphia City Commissioner’s Office.

Frank Pinto, a 10th-and-Fernon-streets native, lost to fellow Republican John Maher in the Auditor General race. Pinto received 33.9 percent of the vote statewide and 42.6 percent in Philadelphia, according to state results.
