While walking home in Grays Ferry, a man suffered a broken femur as a result of a gunshot wound to his leg early Tuesday.

The 33-year-old was on the 2100 block of Marston Terrace at 4 a.m. when an unknown man pointed a black automatic handgun at him, made an unrecognizable statement and called him a derogatory name. The man pushed the weapon away, but the gunman fired at least twice striking him once in the left thigh. Police transported him to HUP to undergo surgery.

The shooter, whose description was unknown at press time, fled in an unknown direction, Tolliver said, but police recovered ballistics evidence at the scene.
