Beefed up

Voters must have been hungry while filling out their ballots this year, as roast beef sandwich grilled the rest of the other write-ins for category not on this list.

Roast pork sandwiches, Philly cheesesteaks and roast beef sandwiches, although similar as a juicy, dreamy desire, should never be confused as the same.

With only a few well-known and loved traditional roast-beef establishments in the area, roast beef sandwiches are a major staple to any South Philadelphian’s diet.

Roast beef is made from different cuts, sometimes including beef round roast, chuck roast beef, rib roast and sirloin tip roast. Containing several B vitamins, roast beef is known for contributing to better moods, enhanced alertness and more energy, especially helping the performance and well-being of athletes.

Roasting beef is not a tough task to master, but it takes patience, as its taste and tenderness is perfected after a slow roast in an oven set to a low or medium-low cooking temperature.

If the meat and bun isn’t enough to make your taste buds flare with excitement, several roast beef sandwich shops will offer the delectable option with a cheese of your choice or dipping sauce.

Savor the warm and delicious, mouthwatering dish by accompanying it with a side of gravy fries and a cold brew, best fit for the hungriest around.

Tanning salon glowed in second place, while auto body shop zoomed into third.
