A Newbold man was arrested for slashing a man outside an Old City bar just hours after his 30th birthday ended.

Louis Leonetti, 30, of the 1500 block of South 13th Street, began arguing with employees and patrons outside of Recess Bar, 138 S. Second St., at 2:45 a.m. Feb. 25, according to the Police Public Affairs Unit. He then allegedly stabbed a 34-year-old man in the left leg during the course of the confrontation. The victim was transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition.

Leonetti was arrested on the 400 block of South 21st Street without incident March 2 and charged with aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault, according to the Police Public Affairs Unit.

Leonetti posted 10 percent of his $10,000 bail Saturday, according to court records.
