An East Passyunk Crossing man was arrested for allegedly threatening to shoot business employees in the head Saturday.

Robert Grimes, 48, of the 1800 block of South Sartain Street, strolled into Capogiro Gelato Artisans, 1625 E. Passyunk Ave., and handed a 20-year-old worker a note that read, “Don’t get nervous. I will shoot you in the head. Give me all the money,” Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The employee passed it to the 22-year-old manager, who told Grimes they did not have any money, so he left and headed east on the avenue.

At 7:51 p.m., the man entered Tan Quest, 1835 E. Passyunk Ave., and smiled at the 28-year-old worker prior to handing her a similar note, Tolliver said. The woman handed him $55 before he exited the salon and went east on the avenue.

Police arrested Grimes at Broad Street and Passyunk Avenue at 9:47 p.m., Tolliver said.

He was charged with three counts of robbery, terroristic threats and related offenses.
