Photo 1: Desirers of dessert ventured to the American Swedish Historical Museum, 1900 Pattison Ave., Saturday for the Semlor and a Movie celebration.

Photo 2: The equally iconic and controversial King of Jeans sign, 1843 E. Passyunk Ave., came down Feb. 5, with its new destination to be the Northern Liberties-situated Provenance Salvage. The East Passyunk Crossing storefront will become an apartment building.

Photo 3: The South of South Neighborhood Association held its first 2015 Dines Out event at Founding Fathers, 1612 South St., Monday.

Photo 4: Learners from St. Thomas Aquinas Independence Mission School, 1631 S. 18th St., concluded Catholic Schools Week Jan. 30 by receiving a check in excess of $4,000 for their site’s technology needs. The endowment came through couple Molly Kelly and Chris Joyce, an Aquinas teacher, who, through the Catholic Philopatrian Literary Institute, held a New Year’s Eve Party at the historic Stotesbury Mansion.

Photo 5: The Charles Santore Branch, 932 S. Seventh St., hosted a Feb. 4 challenge between the Santore Chess Club and the team from The Academy at Palumbo, 1100 Catharine St.

Photo 6: On Saturday, Philly Sound Studios, 2829 S. 18th St., held a life celebration for Jimmie Weaver, a bassist, massage therapist and spiritual healer, who recently died of a heart attack.
