Police arrested a New Jersey man for allegedly assaulting a male who had tried to break up a fight that the victim contends involved the accused.

At 4:20 a.m. July 17, police responded to a “Fight on the Highway” call on the 200 block of McClellan Street and found the complainant bleeding from his head. The man had been cleaning up after a party when a fight broke out between two males, Detective Danielle Tolliver said. Looking to stop the fight by intervening, he suffered a large cut to the top of his head when the reported offender allegedly knocked him to the ground and punched him repeatedly. He received transport two Methodist Hospital, where personnel used to staples to close the wound. His positive identification helped authorities to arrest 44-year-old Du Nguyen, of Voorhees, and charge him with simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person. He posted his $5,000 bail and awaits a July 31 preliminary hearing.
