Police assisted a gunshot-stricken man in Point Breeze, then detained him for narcotics violations.

Officers responded to a report of gunshots at 12:25 p.m. June 25 and learned from the complainant he had been walking westbound on the 1700 block of Wharton Street when he heard blasts. He ran for cover and felt a pain in his left leg. Surveillance video depicted two handgun-toting males chasing him toward 18th Street along Wharton and running back toward 17th Street to enter a silver-colored vehicle after emptying their weapons.

Authorities transported the man to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he had a bullet removed from his left thigh. Discovering drugs on the victim, police arrested the unidentified figure for possession.
