Authorities arrested two out of three suspects in a Whitman robbery.

At 3:30 p.m. Sunday, police met with the complainant at Sixth and Ritner streets and learned he had gone to a nearby coffee shop for a drink. Upon his departure, three fellow Asians approached him from behind as he walked back to his car, with the first defendant punching his face and the second pounding him on the back of the head, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The first two individuals allegedly took his Samsung Galaxy cell phone and wallet, which contained $40, credit cards and identification, before all three supposedly fled the area, with the victim stating he lost sight of the second and third figures.

The first defendant, Tolliver said, walked back to the coffee shop, where law enforcement agents arrested him. Just before 8 p.m. the same day, the complainant observed the supposed second attacker playing basketball and called police, who used the victim’s identification of the figure to arrest 22-year-old Sidara Sen of the 2100 block of South Eighth Street. He and 45-year-old Un Seila, of the 2800 block of South Marshall Street, ended up charged with criminal conspiracy, theft, recklessly endangering another person, robbery and simple assault. Court records had nothing on Seila for this incident but showed that Sen posted his $10,000 bail and awaits a June 24 preliminary hearing. No information on the third member of the trio was available at press time.
