More than three years after his placement on administrative leave, a priest with ties to a Girard Estate parish can return to ministry.

Archbishop Charles J. Chaput on Sunday announced that the Archdiocese of Philadelphia could not substantiate claims that Monsignor Joseph L. Logrip had sexually assaulted minors more than 20 years ago. The second religious figure had received administrative leave in March 2011 following the issue of a Grand Jury Report a month earlier. Along with Chaput’s declaration, announcements occurred last weekend at Lansdale’s Saint Mary Manor and Saint Stanislaus Parish, sites where Logrip had been serving before his suspension. The 67-year-old, who has logged 42 years as a priest, served at Saint Monica Parish, 17th and Ritner streets, from 1992 to ’94. He becomes the last of the report’s 26 priests to learn his fate, with 11 deemed suitable for ministry.
