A Marconi store employee absorbed blows from a quartet of attackers Saturday in Marconi.

While working at Sunoco, 2101 S. 17th St., at 12:15 a.m., the worker attempted to help a customer with a coffee machine when an unknown man entered the establishment and advanced to the area behind the cash register, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. After yelling for the figure to move away from that spot and remain in the store while he contacted authorities, he became engaged in a tussle with the interloper as he tried to escape, with both falling tumbling toward the rear of the store.

Another male and two women entered soon after and inflicted numerous punches before the quartet left and fled in a burgundy four-door vehicle, Tolliver said. The employee suffered an injury to his left eye but reported nothing taken. He described the first male as black; 6 foot; dark complected; having a medium build and possible dreadlocks and wearing a red jacket. He had no detailed description of the others.
