A would-be female bus passenger became prey for a thief Saturday morning in Point Breeze.

While waiting for her ride on the 1300 block of South 20th Street at 5:35 a.m., the complainant had an unknown male approach her and pretend to wait for the same vehicle, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. She stated he engaged her in a short conversation, then displayed a handgun, barking “Don’t move; don’t make a sound.”

Taking her phone and bags, he instructed her to walk away then ran in an unknown direction, Tolliver said.

The victim described the weapon-wielding stranger as black, 6 foot and in his late 20s or early 30; having a thin build and patchy facial hair and wearing a black- or dark-colored hoodie.
