The use of the Philadelphia Police Department’s Real-Time Crime Center, 20th and Johnston streets, resulted in the arrest last week of an area man, who allegedly held up and threatened to kill two men in Newbold/Point Breeze.

Video surveillance allegedly showed Troy McNeil, 21, of the 1500 block of Wharton Street, standing at 16th and Wharton streets and then following two 23-year-old men westbound on the 1500 block of Wharton and southbound on the 1300 block of South Bancroft Street via his bike at 6:50 p.m. July 2, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said.

McNeil is believed to have approached the pair from behind and said, “You know what this is? It’s a stickup,” Tolliver said. He allegedly pulled out a knife and grabbed one of the men by his collar and said, “ Give me your cell phones and money or I will kill you.”

Each handed over $10, which McNeil is believed to have taken and demanded that the men run while he fled in an unknown direction on his bicycle, Tolliver said.

The victims, who identified McNeil in a photo array July 10, were unharmed.

McNeil turned himself in to police July 18. He was charged with two counts of robbery, intimidation, theft, receiving stolen property, terroristic threats and related offenses, according to court records. He is being held on $300,000 bail for those crimes plus another $300,000 bail for a robbery that occurred on the 1700 block of South Broad Street at 12:02 a.m. July 2.
