The American Red Cross issued an emergency call for platelet and blood donors of all blood types as June donations were down 10 percent. Donors with types O, B and A negative are especially needed.
“Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood,” Brigid O’Neill LaGier, Red Cross Penn-Jersey Blood Services Region CEO said. “Each day donations come up short, less blood is available for these patients in need.”
