A trio of thieves took thousands from a building equipment supplier in Newbold/Point Breeze Sunday.

Two men entered Kerrs Building Materials Inc., 1528 Washington Ave., while another stayed outside to serve as a watchman at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. One of the offenders inside pointed a gun at a 61-year-old male and 63-year-old female employee and demanded money. The unarmed man ordered the latter worker to lie face down on the ground while the gunman escorted the former to the cash register, where he retrieved $2,400.

The duo and the lookout fled northbound on 16th Street, Tolliver said.

The armed man was described as black with a dark complexion, in his 20s, 5-foot-7, 145 pounds, having a medium build and wearing a white tank top, blue shorts and black sneakers. The unarmed robber was described as black with a dark complexion, in his 20s, 5-foot-8, 140 pounds, having a medium build and wearing a white tank top, black shorts, black sneakers and an orange towel around his neck. The lookout was described as black, in his 20s, 6 foot, 160 pounds, thin and wearing a gray shirt.
