The Community Health Enrichment Empowerment Resource Services program, aka C.H.E.E.R.S., aims to give youths age 8 to 17 the ability to have a positive outlook, become a contributing member of society, make a positive change in their community and pass along that knowledge to their peers with their actions. The classes run 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through April 20 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2040 Christian St., in the 17th District, which was selected as one of seven areas plagued by high incidents of violence.
