The 3rd District has linked two gunpoint pharmacy robberies in a suspected pattern.

The incidents occurred in Passyunk Square and East Passyunk Crossing, respectively, exactly two weeks apart.

Two offenders entered Zevin’s Drug Store Inc., 800 McKean St., at 11:18 a.m. Monday and ordered the 56-year-old manager, two employees and two customers to put their hands up and drop to the ground. The armed robber escorted the manager to the store’s rear office and demanded he hand over Percocet, Oxycontin and money in his maroon duffel bag with tan handles. His accomplice kept an eye on the others and the pair fled westbound on McKean Street with $200 and an unknown amount of prescription drugs.

The armed robber was described as black with a medium complexion, 6-foot-3, heavyset and wearing black clothing, a black ski mask and tan canvas work gloves with blue grips on the palms while his lookout was described as black with a dark complexion, 5-foot-7, heavyset and wearing a black coat, ski mask and gloves.

Police suspect the same men robbed Bertolino’s Pharmacy, 1500 S. 12th St., at 10:37 a.m. Feb. 11, according to the 3rd District.

During the earlier robbery (“Inventory clearance,” Feb. 21), the duo yelled, “Give me the drugs,” ordered everyone to the ground, placed an unknown amount of cash, prescription drugs and cigarettes in a gray bag and fled northbound on 12th Street, according to police.
