Police are seeking two men who are responsible for stealing a combined $1,000 from a Grays Ferry corner store and one of its employees.


The robbing duo entered Wharton Food Market, 1300 S. 28th St., at 6:22 p.m. Jan. 17, according to police. The gunman pointed his weapon at one employee, demanding cash and taking his wallet, cell phone and $700 while his accomplice ordered cash from the register, which another employee who was working behind the counter provided by giving him $300.


Both fled north on 28th Street and east on Titan Street, police said.


The armed man was described as black, age 20 to 30, 5-foot-8; having an average build, a long beard and light mustache; and wearing a dark blue hoodie, black jacket, black pants, white sneakers and black gloves.


His wingman was described as black, 5-foot-10 and wearing all black clothing, black ski mask, white sneakers and black gloves.
