Shots rang out in West Passyunk when a teen chased a peer with gunfire Friday.

Police responded to gunshots on the 2000 block of South Hemberger Street at 3:55 p.m., Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. As a teen fired toward another adolescent, one of his bullets entered a 2005 blue Chrysler minivan’s rear window and exited its front windshield, missing its 51-year-old male and 49-year-old female passenger, while another bullet struck a maroon Pontiac Montana minivan’s rear driver’s side tallight.

The shooter’s target fled south on Hemberger while the gunman, who was described as black with a medium complexion, age 15 to 16, thin and wearing a brown jacket, headed the opposite direction on Hemberger, Tolliver said.

Police recovered ballistics evidence at the scene, Tolliver said.
